Most families call us later than they meant to, usually after something happened. Here is exactly what the process looks like, so nothing about it is a surprise.
It starts with a phone call describing the situation, followed by a free in-home assessment with no obligation. Personal Touch Home Care will come to the home, a rehabilitation or nursing facility, or the hospital before a discharge, review what daily life actually requires, and give an honest opinion on the hours and type of caregiver needed. Families are free to use the assessment and choose another agency.
You describe what is going on at home in plain words. No script and no sales pitch. We ask what the days and nights actually look like, what has already been tried, and who else is helping. If we are not the right fit — if what you need is skilled nursing, or a facility, or Medicaid-funded support — we say so on that call rather than booking an assessment we cannot serve.
Netty comes out and sits down with you and your loved one, and you walk through the day as it really goes: bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders, getting around the house, the nights, and how much the family has quietly been absorbing. You get an honest opinion on how many hours it would genuinely take and what kind of caregiver fits. It is a care conversation, not a medical evaluation.
No, and we mean that. There is no cost and no obligation. You can use the assessment and choose another agency, or sit with it and do nothing for now. If things change in a month or in a year, call back — nothing about it expires.
Wherever the person is right now: at home, at a rehabilitation or nursing facility, or at the hospital before a discharge. A lot of families are making this decision from a hospital hallway with a discharge date already set, and we are used to working on that timeline.
It depends on the hours and the days you need, and we would rather give you a real date than an optimistic one. Tell us the urgency on the first call. If you are calling from a discharge planning meeting, say that immediately — it changes how we schedule.
Nothing formal. It helps if you can describe a typical day and a typical night, list the medications roughly, and say what the family is currently covering. If there is a long-term care policy, have the carrier name to hand.
Personal Touch Home Care provides non-medical in-home care. Our caregivers assist with daily living, safety and companionship. They do not provide nursing, wound care, injections, physical therapy or any service requiring a licensed clinician. If that is what is needed, it is a home health agency, and we will tell you so.
Call and describe what is happening at home. We will tell you what we can do, what we cannot, and what it would take.
